NORFOLK, Va. – Two Norfolk State student-athletes have been named to the HBCU All-American Second Team by College Football Network, the website announced earlier this week.
Junior defensive back Terron Mallory received the second team defensive nod, while redshirt senior offensive lineman Evan Gregory was named to the second offensive team. The teams recognize and celebrate the top talents and standout performers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the nation.
In his first season at Norfolk State after transferring from Sacred Heart, Mallory excelled right away with the Spartans, leading the MEAC with four interceptions. Three of those interceptions came against Delaware State, becoming the first player in NSU's Division I history to record three interceptions in a single game.
The terrific performance against the Hornets earned Mallory MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Across the 2023 season, Mallory also tallied 47.0 tackles, two pass breakups, forced one fumble, and recovered a fumble for a 52-yard return.
Starting six games for the Spartans, Gregory totaled 38 pancakes and 18 knockdowns. He averaged out at an 83% grade for the season.
