NORFOLK, Va., Dec. 6, 2023 – Norfolk State forward Kierra Wheeler was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola.
Norfolk State guard Da'Brya Clark was named Rookie of the Week, while
Maryland Eastern Shore forward Mahogany Lester earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
Wheeler (Jr., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) averaged a double-double for the week with 21.5 points and 12 rebounds for the Spartans. In the 76-68 win against Chicago State, she collected career highs of 29 points and 15 rebounds while shooting 11-of-19 from the floor and 7-of-10 from the free throw line. While back in her home state, Wheeler led Norfolk State with 14 points and nine rebounds against Minnesota shooting, 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the field.
Lester (Gr., F, Virginia Beach, Va.) averaged 9.0 rebounds on the week through three games, adding 6.3 points, 1.7 steals, 1.7 assists, and 0.7 blocks. In the Hawks win against Mount St. Mary's (Md.), she led the Hawks on the boards with a career-high 17 rebounds, including eight on the offensive end, to go along with her eight points in the game.
Clark (F, 5-7, Fr., Baltimore, Md.) played 35 minutes in the win against Chicago State, scoring 13 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 2-of-3 from three-point range, with five assists.

Laila Lawrence (Coppin State) averaged 11.0 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Eagles through three games. Shot 33.3 percent (11-33) from the field and 62.5 percent from the free throw line (10-of-16).
Nile Miller (Howard) tallied 10 rebounds with six points in the contest against Georgetown.
Iyanna Warren (Howard) scored 13 points for the Bison against Georgetown.
Morgan Callahan (North Carolina Central) led the Eagles with a double-double of 18 points/11 rebounds against Presbyterian.
