The Cavaliers opened the game with a big first half putting 41 points on the board while holding the Eagles to only 17 in the first 20 minutes. The second half was more competative with UVA leading NCCU 36-30 but the first half performance was too much for N.C. Central to overcome as Virginia won 77-47.  

Perry Smith, Jr. Led the Eagles with 12 points with six rebounds after shooting 6-of-8 form the field. Guy Fauntleroy was close behind with 11 points and shot a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Rounding out the top scorers for the Eagles was Josh Smith with 10 points.

Delaware State 105, Gwynedd Mercy 58 (DIII - Atlantic East) 

The Hornets put on a strong performance in the first half scoring 57 points while holding the Griffins to 36 points heading into halftime. DSU added 48 more points in the second half while holding GMU to only 22 points en route to claiming the 105 to 58 win.  

Martaz Robinson led the Hornets with 23 points and eight rebounds while shooting 8-of-11 from the field, 3-of-4 from 3-point range, and a perfect 4-of-4 form the charity stripe. Jevin Muniz and Wesley Oba each tallied 13 points and five rebounds apiece.

Women’s Score 

Campbell 74 (CAA), North Carolina Central 61 

The Fighting Camels came out in the first half to score 37 points, 15 in the first and 22 in the second, while holding the Eagles to 22 total first half points, 10 and 12. N.C. Central bounced back in the second half to score 39 points over the third and fourth quarters while Campbell scored 37, but the first half damage was done as CU defeated NCCU 74-61. 

Kimeira Burks led the Eagles with 17 points shooting 50 percent (6-of-12) from the field. Kyla Bryant added 14 points while Ray’ven Robinson was the last N.C. Central player in double digits with 10 points in the game. Morgan Callahan recorded 12 rebounds and was 6-of-13 from the free throw line.
