The Osprey of North Florida held the Eagles of Coppin State to just two points in the first quarter as CSU shot just six-percent in the first 10-minutes. The Eagles bounced back over the next two quarters to lead the Osprey 28 to 19 in scoring over the second and third quarters. The two teams were neck and neck in the fourth quarter with UNF leading 14-13 and holding on to claim the 49-43 win.  

Angel Jones led the Eagles with 12 points with Faith Blackstone just behind her with 11. Laila Lawrence added 10 points and eight rebounds to join her teammates in double-digit scoring.

Delaware State 84, LIU 59 (NEC) 

The Hornets of Delaware State picked up their first win of the season after defeating LIU in Dover on Monday evening. The game started off with the Sharks holding a 14-13 lead over the Hornets after the first quarter. Delaware State put together three 20+ point quarters the remainder of the game as they defeated Long Island 84-59. DSU scored 24 points in the second quarter while holding LIU to only six points. Both teams scored 24 points coming out of halftime while the Hornets won the fourth quarter 23-15 for their first win of the season.  

Four Hornets scored in double figures led by Savannah Brooks with 20 points after shooting 6-of-8 from the field, 3-of-4 from 3-point range, and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Kiarra MceIrath was close behind with 19 points while Denijsha Wilson and Tyshonne Tollie rounded out the top scorers with 17 and 16 points respectively.

East Carolina 72 (American), Maryland Eastern Shore 57 

The two teams sat tied at 15-all through the first quarter and the Hawks pulled ahead in the second scoring 16 points while holding the Pirates to six entering halftime with a 31-21 lead. East Carolina came out in the second half scoring 51 points while Maryland Eastern Shore was held to 26 points. ECU’s second half push was enough to give them the lead as the Pirates won 72-57. 

Ja’la Bannerman and Ariana Seawell both led the Hawks with 14 points apiece. Seawell and Ashanti Lynch both recorded seven rebounds in the contest. Mya Thomas and Lynch added nine points each for UMES.

Men’s Scores 

East Carolina 63 (American), Maryland Eastern Shore 52 

The two teams were neck and neck after the first half came to a close with the Pirates holding a slim 32-31 lead. East Carolina came out in the second half to outscore Maryland Eastern Shore by ten points, 31-21 to pick up the 63-52 win.  

The Hawks were led by Chace Davis with 13 points while Devon Ellis was on his heels with 12 points of his own. Elijah Wilson contributed 10 points after shooting 100 percent (7-of-7) from the free throw line.
