Hofstra 58 (CAA), Howard 49 

Howard opened the game with a 17-12 run in the first quarter, but Hofstra responded with a 19-10 run in the second quarter to lead 31-27 at the half. The Pride came out of the break putting 13 points on the board while holding the Bison to seven points. Howard answered in the final quarter with a 15-14 run but Hofstra’s lead that they built was too much to overcome for the Bison who fell 58-49.  

Iyanna Warren led the Bison with 14 points while making 8-of-11 of her free throws. Kaiya Creek added 12 points as the only other Howard player in double-digits. Vaness Blake led the team with seven rebounds.

Delaware State 69, Delaware 66 (CAA) 

Delaware State led the first quarter opening the game on a 17-15 run before both teams put up 20 points apiece in the second quarter. The Hornets led by two, 37-35, at the halftime break. The Blue Hens of Delaware went on a 22-15 run in the third quarter, but a 17-9 rally by the Hornets in the fourth was just the push Delaware State needed to claim the 69-66 win heading into the Christmas holiday.  

Tyshonne Tollie led the Hornets with 22 points while Savannah Brooks added 17 and Denijsha Wilson contributed 16. Naomi Zulueta brought down 16 rebounds to lead all players.

North Carolina Central 70, UNC Wilmington 65 (CAA) 

North Carolina Central opened the game on a strong start going up 21-10 over UNC Wilmington in the first quarter. The Seahawks led the second quarter 12-8, putting the halftime score at 29-22 with N.C. Central leading at the break. The Eagles came out of halftime putting 23 points on the board while the Seahawks added 19 to their total as the score sat at 52-41 with North Carolina Central leading. UNC Wilmington answered in the final quarter with a 24-18 run pulling within five points, but N.C. Central was able to hold on long enough to claim the 70-65 victory.  

Kyla Bryant put on a 20-point performance, while teammate Jada Tiggett recorded a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Kimeira Burks was the last Eagle in double-figures with 13 points.

Furman 67 (SoCon), South Carolina State 43 

The Paladins of Furman held the Bulldogs to just 15 first half points while scoring 27 of their own to lead at the half. A 25-point third quarter for Furman opened the gap even further as South Carolina State was held to seven points putting the score at 52-22 heading into the final 10 minutes. S.C. State rebounded in the fourth quarter with 21 points while Furman added 15 points to their total as the Paladins claimed the win 67-43.  

Jordan Releford and Jhaven Meade led the bulldogs with 10 points apiece. Meade also led the team with eight rebounds. Jada Morgan was one point shy of 10 points, scoring nine in the game.

Men’s Basketball 

Norfolk State 84, South Dakota State 65 

The teams traded the lead early in the game but by the time the clock hit 17 minutes remaining in the first half the Spartans held control of the lead. At the half, Norfolk State led 40-32. The Spartans came out in the second half and put up another 44 points while holding the Jackrabbits to 33 to claim the 84-65. 

Jack Doumbia led the Spartans with 17 points while George Beale, Jr., added 14 of his own. Both Jamarii Thomas and Allen Betrand contributed 13 points apiece. Tyrel Bladen led the team with nine rebounds.
