The Eagles picked up their first win road win of the season in defeating the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville 65-63. UNC Asheville led the first quarter 20-14 before the teams switched in the second quarter as N.C. Central led 19-10 putting the halftime score at 33-30 with the Eagles holding a slim three-point lead. The Bulldogs won the third quarter, 17-15 coming out of the halftime break, before the Eagles took the lead in the fourth quarter, 17-16, holding on to defeat UNC Asheville.
Kyla Bryant and Jada Tiggett led the Eagles with 14 points apiece while Tiggett also led the team in rebounds with 10 for a double-double. Kimeira Burks was the last Eagle in double figures with 11 points.

Norfolk State 85, High Point 71 (Big South)
The Spartans opened the first quarter taking a 21-16 lead before the Panthers took the momentum going on an 11-7 run putting the halftime score at 28-27 with Norfolk State leading by one at the break. The third and fourth quarters were nail biters as NSU led 20-19 in the third while HPU won the fourth quarter 21-19 tying the score at 67 all at the end of regulation. As the teams went into overtime, the Spartans came out with a renewed fire scoring 18 points while holding the Panthers to only four points to pull ahead and take the win 85-71.
Kierra Wheeler put together another career-performance on the road in High Point, NC scoring 33 points shooting 11-of-19 from the field and 10-of-13 from the free throw line while also bringing down 17 rebounds. Diamond Johnson added 20 points for the Spartans with 11 rebounds of her own for the first double-double of the season making 5-of-11 three-point shots. Da’naijah Williams contributed 11 points with five rebounds while Anjanae Richardson was a point shy of a double-digit scoring performance with nine points. Niya Fields collected seven assists for the fifth time this season.

Men’s Basketball
UNC Asheville 79 (Big South), South Carolina State 75
In the Battle of the Bulldogs, the SCSU squad led the first half 36-34 over UNC Asheville. After the break the Bulldogs from Asheville came out to claim the fourth quarter following a 45-39 run that put UNC Asheville ahead by just four points for the win.
Omar Croskey and Wilson Dubinsky led the Bulldogs with 13 points each while Davion Everett, Drayton Jones, and Shaman Alston all tallied eight points apiece.

Marist 76 (MAAC), Maryland Eastern Shore 52
Marist held Maryland Eastern Shore at bay jumping out to a 20-point advantage, 38-18, in the opening half of action. The Hawks bounced back in the second half scoring 34 points, but the Red Foxes’ lead was too great for UMES to overcome.
Chace Davis led the Hawks with eight points while Troy Hupstead and Tyler Mack both added six points apiece.

Norfolk State 108, Southern Virginia 52 (Div. 3)
The Spartans returned home for the first time since Nov. 28, to host the Knights of Southern Virginia and put on a show for the fans claiming a 108-52 victory. NSU more than doubled SVU’s first half score of 23 points by putting up 56 points in the first 20 minutes of action. The Spartans nearly doubled the score again in the second half, putting 52 additional points, while the Knights scored 29.
Six Norfolk State players recorded a double-digit game led by George Beale, Jr., who tallied 16 points after shooting 7-of-10 from the field. Kuluel Mading nearly had himself a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds to go along with two blocks and two steals. Jaylani Darden was perfect from the field shooting 6-of-6 for 14 points, while Chris Fields, Jr., shot 6-og-9 from the field for 13 points. Daryl Anderson and Daman Tate contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.

Wake Forest 88 (ACC), Delaware State 59
The Demon Deacons led the Hornets by at least ten points in both halves to claim an 88-59 victory. Wake Forest posted 42 points in the first half and added 46 in the second while holding Delaware State to 32 points in the opening 20 minutes and 27 in the last 20 minutes of action.
Martaz Robinson led the Hornets with 15 points and eight rebounds. Jevin Muniz added 12 points as the only other DSU player in double figures.

Campbell 83 (CAA), Morgan State 76
The first half of action was very competitive between Morgan State and Campbell as MSU held a slight lead, 37-36, at halftime. The Fighting Camels flipped the score in the second half outscoring the Bears 47-39 to claim the 83-76 victory.
A pair of Bears recorded 20+ points in the loss to the Fighting Camels in Amahrie Simpkins and Will Thomas. Simpkins scored 23 points after shooting 10-of-15 from the field while Thomas added 22 points going 9-of-14 from the field. Rob Lawson contributed 11 points while Allen Udemadu led the team with eight rebounds.
