South Carolina State traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah to face the University of Utah in their season opener. The Bulldogs were battered by the Utes as SCSU fell 108-48. Utah more than doubled S.C. State’s scores in all four quarters putting up 34, 24, 32, and 18 points in the four periods. The Bulldogs were held to 14, 12, 14, and 8 in each of the four quarters in the loss.
Cassandra Coln led the Bulldogs with 12 points while Taniya McGown was also in double figures with 10 points of her own. Jhaven Meade led SCSU with six rebounds.
The Bulldogs return to the hardwood on Saturday, Nov. 11, when they travel to Greensboro, N.C., to face the UNC Greensboro Spartans. Tipoff is set for 12 noon.

The Eagles battled the Fighting Camels throughout the first half and especially kept things close in the opening quarter trailing 21-19 after the first ten minutes of action. Campbell separated themselves slightly in the second quarter going on a 23-15 run which put the halftime score at 44-34. The Eagles came out of the halftime break and outscored the Fighting Camels in the third quarter 17-9, but CU held CSU to only four points in the fourth en route to the 68-55 win.
Faith Blackstone led the Eagles with 18 points shooting 7-of-17 from the field. Angel Jones was not far behind with 15 points of her own going 7-of-9 from the field. Blackstone, Jones and Tyler Gray all tied for the team lead in rebounds at five apiece.
Coppin State returns to the court on Monday, Nov. 13, when they travel to Loretto, Pennsylvania, to take on Sacred Heart at 7 PM.

Howard 58, Mount St. Mary’s 39
Two bookend quarters helped push the Bison over the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary’s 58-39 in Washington, D.C. Howard scored 18 points in the first quarter while putting 10 points on the board in both the second and third periods. HU closed the game with 20 points in the fourth quarter to claim the victory.
Nile Miller paced the Bison with 14 points and five rebounds. Tyana Walker joined Miller in double-digit scoring with 11 points to accompany her three rebounds and three steals. Iyanna Warren and Janyah Bohanon both tallied nine points each.
Howard is back on the hardwood on Sunday, Nov. 12, when they travel to Durham, New Hampshire to face the Wildcats of UNH. Tipoff is set for 5 PM.

The Eagles hung with the Huskies in the first quarter as UW led 23-14 after the first ten minutes of action. The remaining three quarters were dominated by Washington who scored 34, 27, and 29 points in the second, third, and fourth quarters respectively. N.C. Central scored a combined 25 points in the final three quarters, falling in their season opener in Seattle, Washington.
Kimeira Burks led the Eagles with 10 points while Tippy Robertson added nine and Kyla Bryant put up eight. Morgan Callahan collected the most rebounds on the team at six, while also adding four points.
N.C. Central is back in action Tuesday, Nov. 14, when they travel to Orangeburg, S.C., to face the Terriers of Wofford College. Tipoff is at 7 PM.
