The Spartans came out of the gate putting up 14 points in the opening quarter while holding the Dragons to 11 points. Drexel bounced back in the second quarter scoring 15 points while allowing Norfolk State to score just nine points putting the score at 25-24 with NSU leading by one. NSU scored 14 points in both the third and fourth quarters while holding DU to 12 and 11 respectively as the Spartans held on to claim their second win of the season.
Kierra Wheeler led the Spartans with 15 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Anjanae Richardson added 14 points with three 3-pointers. Makoye Diawara brought down seven rebounds.
Norfolk State is back in action on Sunday, Nov. 12, when they travel to Radford, Va., to face the Highlanders of Radford University. Tipoff is set for 2 PM.

The Hawks went into the house of the UVA Cavaliers and went toe-to-toe with the Cavs but fell in the end 76-52. The first quarter was very close with Maryland Eastern Shore only trailing by four points at the end of the opening quarter. Virginia pulled ahead in the second quarter going up 35-22 and leading by 13 points at the halftime break. Coming out of the intermission the Hawks nearly outscored the Cavaliers putting up 14 points to UVA’s 15, however, in the fourth quarter UMES was outscored 26-16 putting the final score at 76-52.
Zamara Haynes led the Hawks with 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Ja’la Bannerman nearly scored in double figures putting nine points on the board for UMES.
Maryland Eastern Shore returns to the court on Saturday, Nov. 11, when they host Washington Adventist University at 6:30 PM in Princess Anne, Md.
