Coppin State Volleyball to face Pittsburgh in NCAA Tournament

The Coppin State University Eagles, the 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Champions, will face No. 1 seed Pittsburgh in the opening round of the 2023 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship Tournament.

The Eagles and Panthers will face off on Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 PM in Pittsburg, Pa. The winner of the 7 PM match will face off against the winner from the earlier 4 PM match between No. 8 Southern California and UMBC.

Coppin State earned the MEAC’s automatic bid after sweeping all three opponents throughout the MEAC Volleyball Tournament. The Eagles defeated all of their opponents in three sets starting with South Carolina, following with Maryland Eastern Shore in the semifinals, and finally against Howard in the championship match.

The Panthers enter the NCAA tournament after securing a share of the ACC Championship title, the program's second consecutive and fifth in program history.

The encounter between the two teams will be the first meeting in the series.
