MEAC Volleyball Recap, Oct. 29

NORFOLK, Va. - Coppin State remains undefeated in the MEAC volleyball action while Howard and Maryland Eastern Shore move up in the standings into second and third place.  

Morgan State 3, South Carolina State 0 

The Bears snapped a five-game losing streak with a three-set win over the Bulldogs of South Carolina State. Morgan State hit .238 as a team while collecting 40 kills as a group. MSU also put down seven service aces while only allowing SCSU to get one ace down.

Coppin State 3, North Carolina Central 1 

The match between N.C. Central and Coppin State began with the visiting Eagles taking the first set off the host Eagles of CSU 25-23. Following the first set, Coppin State locked in and closed out the match in four sets winning sets two though four 25-17, 25-21, 25-21 to pick up their tenth conference win and 20th win on the season.

Maryland Eastern Shore 3, Howard 2 

The match between UMES and Howard was a battle that saw the Hawks even the series record on the season with a five-set victory over the Bison. The Hawks took the early lead in the match, winning the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-23. The Bison responded in kind winning the next two sets 25-19, 25-20 to force a fifth set. Much like the first four sets, set five was neck and neck with the Hawks pulling out the win 15-13 and taking the match 3-2.

Delaware State 3, Norfolk State 1 

The Hornets evened the series score against the Spartans with a four-set win after falling to them earlier in the season. The Hornets handled business efficiently, winning sets one and two 25-15, 25-10. Norfolk State battled in the third to win 26-24, but Delaware State closed things down in the fourth winning 25-12.
