Delaware State University's Charles Brown Jr., MEAC SAAC President, to Participate in "GSM Live: More than an Athlete, the Making of a Global Human" Online Event

DOVER, Del. - Delaware State University (DSU) proudly announces that Charles Brown Jr., a Senior Football player, and President of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), will be a featured speaker at tomorrow's online event, "GSM Live: More than an Athlete, the Making of a Global Human." The event is scheduled to take place on October 26, 2023, at 7:00 PM ET via Zoom.

In this groundbreaking event, Brown Jr. will join a panel of distinguished speakers, including WNBA Player and Activist Natasha Cloud, Former NFL Player and Lung Cancer Research Advocate Chris Draft, Assistant Professor of Sports Marketing Stephanie Tryce, Deputy Legal Director at the Southern Poverty Law Center Bacardi Jackson, and Executive Director of PA4WN™ Lab / Adjunct Lecturer at Widener University Tracy A. Jones. The discussions will be moderated by Scott N. Brooks, PhD, Arizona State University's Global Sport Institute Executive Director.

The conversation will be divided into three insightful segments. The first segment will delve into the ways sport can create controversies, with Brown and Tracy A. Jones providing valuable perspectives. The second conversation will explore how the humanity of athletes who decide to speak up can be honored, featuring Bacardi Jackson and Chris Draft. The event will conclude with a discussion on the evolution of activism in sports, featuring Mystics Point Guard Natasha Cloud and Stephanie Tryce.
