MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 24, 2023Maryland Eastern Shore senior Brooke Roberts was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. UAB’s Madelynn Oliva was named Rookie of the Week.
 
Roberts (Sr., Port Orange, Fla.) led Maryland Eastern Shore at the Northeast Classic this past weekend, averaging 20.63 pins per frame and boasting an 86.4 fill percentage. She also had a strike percentage of 53.8%, averaged 9.17 pins on first ball and converted 82% of her spares (90.6% in one-pin spares). She also averaged 205.5 pins in traditional play, finishing in the top 30 in a field of 230 bowlers.
 
Oliva (Fr., Palm Coast, Fla.) was a big part of UAB finishing second in the Sonic Boom Invite, coming in seventh individually after bowling three games of 200 or better – including a weekend-best 223. She averaged 19.41 pins per frame and had an 85.7 fill percentage for the weekend.
 
Other Top Performers
Cheyenne Washington (Morgan State) was 10th individually at the Northeast Classic, averaging 216.8 pins in traditional play and bowling a weekend-best 243.
 
Melanie Katen (North Carolina A&T State) averaged 203.4 pins in traditional play at the Northeast Classic, bowling in the 200s four times and averaging 20.04 pins per frame.
 
Shauna Rodgers (UAB) bowled three 200+ games at the Sonic Boom Invite (including a weekend-best 244) to help the Blazers finish second.
