ORANGEBURG, S.C. --
Ariana Seawell led the way with 21 points, and Maryland Eastern Shore closed the contest with a 10-4 run, as the Hawks defeated South Carolina State 58-52 at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on Saturday.

The Hawks picked up their first MEAC win of the season.

Seawell went 8-for-11 from the floor and also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.

The Bulldogs' Lovely Sonnier also recorded a double-double with 17 points and 19 boards.

Morgan State 71, Howard 49

BALTIMORE, Md. --
Ja'Niah Henson dropped a game-high 26 points on Saturday as Morgan State remained unbeaten in league play with a 71-49 win over defending champion Howard on Saturday in Burr Gymnasium.

The Lady Bears (10-6, 3-0 MEAC) have won three in a row.

Charlene Shepherd added 16 points for Morgan State, to go along with a team-high seven boards and three steals.

Norfolk State 49, Coppin State 43

BALTIMORE, Md. -- 
Norfolk State, which ran its winning streak to seven games, held Coppin State to just 10 field goals as the Spartans picked up a 49-43 victory in a MEAC game on Saturday afternoon at the Physical Education Complex.
 
Defense was the key to Saturday's win as Norfolk State (16-3, 4-0 MEAC) forced 25 turnovers and held Coppin State to 22.7 percent shooting (10-of-44). The Eagles (4-14, 1-2) did most of their damage at the free-throw line, shooting 79.2 percent (19-of-24).
 
Camille Downs was the lone Norfolk State player in double figures, posting 10 points, along with four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Makoye Diawara led the defense with nine boards, including eight off the defensive glass.

North Carolina Central 63, Delaware State 44

DURHAM, N.C. -- 
Junior guard Kimia Carter scored a season-high 15 points to top North Carolina Central's scorers in a 63-44 victory over Delaware State on Saturday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Morgan Callahan and junior Kimeira Burks joined Carter in the double-digit scoring column with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Carter and Burks both swish a trio of 3-pointers and Callahan led the Eagles with eight rebounds and three blocks.
 
Senior Kira Lowery was NCCU's top playmaker, dishing out a season-high 11 assists on NCCU's 24 made field goals.
