NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 17, 2023 – Senior guard Isaiah Burke of Morgan State has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the league announced today. Howard University’s Shy Odom was named Rookie of the Week, and senior guard Malik Miller of Morgan State was announced as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Burke (6-1, Sr., G, Bowie, Md.) recorded his second straight 30-point game in Saturday’s win over rival Coppin State, dropping 30 after hitting five 3-pointers and going 15-for-18 from the free throw line. He also had two assists and a blocked shot.
Odom (6-6, Fr., F, Chestnut Hill, Mass.) averaged 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in two games for the Bison, going a combined 6-for-14 (43%) from the floor. He opened with 15 points and seven rebounds against Norfolk State, before adding eight points in a win over Morehouse.
Miller (6-4, Sr., G, Washington, D.C.) grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds (including 17 on the defensive end) against Coppin State, while also notching three steals to help keep the Bears undefeated in MEAC play. He also had 16 points for his eighth double-double of the season, to go along with five assists.

Nendah Tarke (Coppin State) had 20 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two assists against Morgan State.
Martaz Robinson (Delaware State) dropped 24 points to go along with eight rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Marcus Dockery (Howard) dropped a career-high 24 points against Norfolk State, hitting seven 3-pointers, before adding 11 on Monday against Morehouse.
Elijah Hawkins (Howard) notched 13 points, eight assists, six rebounds and four steals against Norfolk State.
Nathaniel Pollard, Jr. (Maryland Eastern Shore) blocked two shots and grabbed two steals, while also grabbing seven boards, against Delaware State.
Zion Styles (Maryland Eastern Shore) recorded 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting against Delaware State.
Kris Bankston (Norfolk State) grabbed seven rebounds and two steals, while also blocking a pair of shots, against Howard.
Joe Bryant, Jr. (Norfolk State) had 23 points and made all 11 free throws against Howard.
Eric Boone (North Carolina Central) had 17 points, six assists and three steals against South Carolina State.
Brendan Medley-Bacon (North Carolina Central) scored 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots against South Carolina State.
