NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 30, 2022 – North Carolina A&T State senior Lauren Tomaszewski was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason Bowler of the Year, presented by TowneBank, the conference announced today. Two-time defending champion North Carolina A&T State was tabbed as the preseason favorite to take the MEAC regular-season crown.

Tomaszewski was named a First Team All-American by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) in 2022 after leading the Aggies to the MEAC title, a berth in the NCAA Bowling National Championship and a No. 7 ranking in the season’s final NTCA Top 25 poll. Her 266 in the Prairie View A&M Invitational was tied for the seventh-highest single-game total in the MEAC last season, and she was third nationally in the NTCA’s Player Composite Performance Index. Tomaszewski was also third nationally in traditional scoring (21.3 per frame) and fourth in total scoring average (21.2 per frame).
Joining Tomaszewski on the preseason All-MEAC team are teammate Melanie Katen (last season’s MEAC Bowler of the Year), Maryland Eastern Shore senior Brooke Roberts, Delaware State sophomore Sydney Reardon (last season’s MEAC Rookie of the Year) and fellow Hornet Saralyne Nassberg.
The Aggies, who were 14-2 in conference play last season and defeated Delaware State in the championship final for their second straight title, racked up 15 first-place votes and 159 points. Maryland Eastern Shore, with 135 points and two first-place votes, was picked to finish second, followed by Delaware State (one first-place vote, 127), Monmouth (105) and Morgan State (87) in the top five.
Rounding out the predicted order of finish are UAB (79), Coppin State (51), Norfolk State (35) and Howard (32).
