DOVER, Del. --- Keyed by seven quarterback sacks, Merrimack held Delaware State to just 164 total yards in a 26-13 victory over the Hornets at Alumni Stadium today. 

The Warriors improved to 2-2 this season after defeating Delaware State for the third time in three meetings. The Hornets fell to 2-2 on the season. 

Delaware State totaled just 70 yards rushing in the contest, after subtracting 60 yards on the seven sacks of Hornets’ backup quarterback C.J. Henry by the Warriors. Henry was starting in place of two-year starting quarterback Jared Lewis, who has missed the last seven quarters due to injury. 

The Hornets return to action next Saturday (Oct. 1) against another Northeast Conference foe, Robert Morris. Game time is set for 6:02 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.  
St. Francis (Pa.) 45, Norfolk State 26
 
NORFOLK, Va. – Despite a season-best performance from its offense, Norfolk State couldn’t keep pace with a balanced St. Francis team in a 45-26 loss to the Red Flash on Saturday afternoon at Dick Price Stadium.

In the teams’ second-ever meeting, St. Francis (2-2) scored the game’s first 21 points and kept the Spartans (0-4) at bay by amassing 501 total yards.
 
NSU tallied 396 total yards, a season-high, led by a season-best 254 rushing yards. Jason Wonodi had 81 of those yards on his one carry, while Jordin Lennon had 10 carries for 80 yards. Jaylan Adams completed 11-of-22 passes for 142 yards with two touchdowns. Tremayne Talbert led the Spartan receivers with four receptions for a career-high 73 yards and Davis had three receptions for 31 yards.

Tyler Long had 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks to lead the Spartan defense.

DURHAM, N.C. – Eight North Carolina Central University Eagles scored touchdowns, while the NCCU offense racked up 465 total yards and the defense secured three interceptions and four sacks during a 59-14 victory over Virginia-Lynchburg in O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium on Saturday.
 
In the Eagles’ first game as a nationally ranked team in five years (No. 25), they scored the most points since Sept. 17, 2016 (65 vs. Saint Augustine’s), and reached 40 points or more for three straight contests for the first time in 37 years. 
 
NCCU (4-0) used a stable of ball carriers to amass a season-high 272 rushing yards, marking the third consecutive outing with more than 200 yards on the ground.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Redshirt junior wide receiver Shaquan Davis caught a team-high six catches for 127-yards and a touchdown, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State dropped their seventh in a row to host N.C. A&T State, 41-27, at Truist Stadium on Saturday.

Graduate quarterback Corey Fields, Jr. threw 26-of-49 for 316-yards and a career-high 4 touchdowns in the loss.

Junior linebacker BJ Davis spearheaded the defense with a game-high 17 tackles, while sophomore punter Dyson Roberts punted four times for 203-yards with an average of 50.8 yards per punt.
