MEAC Announces Weekly Football Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Sept. 19, 2022North Carolina Central junior quarterback Davius Richard was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference announced today. The Eagles’ Khalil Baker and Morgan State junior linebacker Lawrence Richardson were named Co-Defensive Players of the Week, while Delaware State’s C.J. Henry was named Rookie of the Week. North Carolina Central’s Corey Bullock was named Offensive Lineman of the Week and the Eagles’ Adrian Olivo was named Specialist of the Week.
 
Richard (QB, 6-3, 215, Jr., Belle Glade, Fla.) accounted for 334 yards of total offense and three touchdowns as the Eagles downed No. 25 New Hampshire on the road, their first win over a ranked opponent since 2016. He ran for 140 yards and a score, the highest single-game rushing total for an NCCU quarterback in 23 years, while throwing for 194 yards and two touchdowns. He engineered an offense that went 12-for-15 on third down and 5-for-5 in the red zone.
 
Baker (DB, 6-0, 185, Jr., Winston-Salem, N.C.) picked off his third pass of the season against New Hampshire, returning it 33 yards for a touchdown.
 
Richardson (LB, 6-1, 215, Jr., Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Bears defense in Morgan State’s win over Sacred Heart, the first win of head coach Damon Wilson’s tenure, recording 10 tackles (six solo) and a pass breakup. He also had 0.5 tackles for loss (seven yards) and two quarterback hurries as the Bears held the Pioneers to 2-for-14 on third down and 0-for-5 on fourth down.
 
Henry (QB, 5-10, 180, r-Fr., Newark, Del.) went 9-for-15 through the air against Virginia University of Lynchburg, passing for 115 yards and three touchdowns coming off the bench.
           
Bullock (OL, 6-4, 315, Jr., Accokeek, Md.) graded out at 95 percent and racked up 13 pancake blocks at No. 25 New Hampshire, protecting an Eagles offense that had 399 total yards. He went 65 offensive snaps without recording a penalty or giving up a sack.
 
Olivo (PK, 5-10, 185, Jr., Plant City, Fla.) nailed a 30-yard field goal and connected on all six extra-point attempts at No. 25 New Hampshire.

Jerrish Halsey (Delaware State) set career highs in receptions (7) and yards (134), finding the endzone twice against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
 
Isaiah Williams (Delaware State) recorded six tackles, including 2.5 for loss, against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
 
Jamal Hines (Howard) graded out at 95 percent against Morehouse, recording six critical blocks.
 
Jevin Jackson (Howard) recorded a career-high 2.5 sacks and forced a fumble against Morehouse.
 
Eden James (Howard) rushed for 49 yards on three carries, including a 51-yard touchdown, against Morehouse.
 
Antoine Murray (Howard) caught eight passes for 116 yards and two scores against Morehouse.
 
Beckett Leary (Morgan State) was 3-for-3 on PATs and kicked a 20-yard field goal against Sacred Heart.
 
Marquis Hall (Norfolk State) racked up nine tackles and an interception against Hampton.
 
Max U’Ren (North Carolina Central) had three stops, including 1.5 for loss, at No. 25 New Hampshire.
