HARRISONBURG, Va. – Quarterback Todd Centeio threw three of James Madison's four touchdown passes as the Dukes defeated 63-7 on Saturday afternoon at Bridgeforth Stadium.
The Dukes (2-0) led 21-0 after one quarter en route to their third straight win in the series with NSU (0-2).
The Spartans return home to face Hampton in the Battle of the Bay at 2 p.m. next Saturday at Dick Price Stadium.

Delaware 35, Delaware State 9
NEWARK, Del. – Nationally-ranked Delaware made visiting Delaware State pay for key mistakes in each half in the Hens' 35-9 victory over the Hornets in the Route 1 rivalry at Tubby Raymond Field this evening.
The Hens, ranked 10
th in the latest STATS Perform FCS Top 25 poll, remain undefeated in 11 meetings all-time against the Hornets to improve to 2-0 this season. Delaware State fell to 1-1 this year.
The Hornets led 3-0 midway through the first quarter before Delaware scored on a blocked punt in the endzone to take the lead for good.
Delaware State totaled 311 yards in the game, 158 by the run and 153 passing. Delaware collected 400 total yards. Hornet quarterback Jared Lewis completed 10 of 24 passes for 153 yards and the one touchdown pass to Smith. Lewis was also second on the team with 52 yards rushing.
Defensively, Delaware State tallied four sacks, two each by linemen Marcus Winfield and Omakus Langley. The Hornets also had interceptions from Jayden Estes and Andrew Reese.
The Hornets return home next Saturday (Sep. 17) to face Virginia Lynchburg. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.

South Carolina State 33, Bethune-Cookman 9
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Despite a two-hour delay due to harsh weather, South Carolina State managed to pull it together to run away with a 33-9 victory over SWAC foe and host Bethune-Cookman Saturday at Municipal Stadium.
The Bulldogs (1-1) defense forced four interceptions on the day with junior linebacker BJ Davis leading the way with five (5) tackles and two interceptions along with a 59-yard interception, sophomore Aaron Smith added five tackles and one sack in the win.
Red-shirt sophomore running back Kendrell Flowers led the charge on offense with sixteen (16) carries for 147-yards and two touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Shaquan Davis finished with one catch for 87-yards and a touchdown.
South Carolina State improves to 1-1 on the season, while BC-U falls to 0-2. Next up the Bulldogs will be open next week before taking on N.C. A&T on the road on Sept. 24th in Greensboro, NC.

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University amassed 519 yards of total offense and held Winston-Salem State University scoreless during the Eagles' 41-0 victory on a rainy night inside O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium.
The shutout is the first by the Eagles since 2017, and the 2-0 start to the season is the first as a Division I-FCS program. The last time NCCU opened a season with consecutive wins was in 2006, its final year on the Division II level.
NCCU junior running back Latrell Collier registered a career-high 118 yards rushing with two trips to the end zone to spark an explosive offensive performance. Sophomore J'mari Taylor also ran for two touchdowns with 65 ground yards, junior Chris Mosley added 32 yards and a score, sophomore Josh Pullen contributed 31 yards, and junior quarterback Davius Richard chipped in 14 yards and a touchdown run. In all, the Eagles totaled 260 rushing yards and six touchdown runs.
Richard also posted 200 yards through the air on 14-of-23 passing, while sophomore Walker Harris completed 3-of-4 passes for 59 yards.
Up next, NCCU visits Durham, New Hampshire, to play the University of New Hampshire on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Towson 29, Morgan State 21
TOWSON, Md. – Saturday night marked the 27th meeting in the Morgan State versus Towson crosstown rivalry game. Towson handed the Bears a 31-0 loss at Hughes Stadium a season ago, but tonight was much more of a battle.
Towson quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome turned in a top performance to help the Tigers pull out a 29-21 victory in front of 9,784 fans in attendance at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
Pigrome went 14 of 25 for 157 yards, including three touchdowns as Towson (2-0, 0-0 CAA) rallied to beat the Bears (0-2, 0-0 MEAC) to improve to 21-6 all-time versus Morgan, including winning the last five games.
Carson Baker had a solid night as the Bears starting signal-caller. He went 10 of 24 for 152 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns and an interception for Morgan. Alfonzo Graham, who entered the game coming off a 106-yard rushing performance at Georgia Southern, led the Bears with 89 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns.
Andre Crawley had a game-high seven receptions for 63 yards, while Avery Jones added a TD grab in the second quarter for Morgan.

South Florida 42, Howard 20
TAMPA, Fla. - University of South Florida (USF) scored 21 points off turnovers to down the Howard University football team, 42-20, at Raymond James Stadium.
Offensively, the Bison produced 418 yards, including 168 yards on the ground. Ian Wheeler and Jarett Hunter combined for 155 yards on the ground.
The Bison take on Morehouse College on Saturday in the HBCU NY Football Classic. The game will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. and air live on CNBC.
