DOVER, Del., Aug. 16, 2022 -- The prestigious Philadelphia Black Basketball Hall of Fame has announced that former Delaware State star Emanual Davis is among its latest honorees.
Davis, along with more than 20 other Philadelphia-area basketball and media greats, will be inducted into the Philadelphia Black Basketball Hall of Fame on Sep. 24 at the Emerald Ballroom in the city.
Davis, who competed for the Hornets from 1988-to-91, scored 1,269 points and was an All-MEAC performer during his collegiate career.
Following his Delaware State years, he played for the NBA's Houston Rockets (1996-98), Seattle Sonics (1999-2001) and Atlanta Hawks (2001-03), in addition to competing in the Continental Basketball Association and Italian Basketball League.
Davis is joined in the 2022 hall of fame class by a "who's who" of Philly basketball greats, including the late Kobe Bryant, Kobe's dad Joe Bryant, Sonny Hill, Wally Jones, Yolanda Laney, Ollie Johnson and Pooh Richardson, among others.
Davis was indicted into the Delaware State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017. He is the second Hornet selected to the Philadelphia Black Basketball Hall of Fame, joining Robert Vanderhost, who was inducted in 2018.
