NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State basketball player Yoro Sidibe, who recently completed his junior year, has received a prestigious AASP Career Development Award.
Sidibe is one of just two recipients of the honor from the NCAA's Accelerating Academic Success Program (AASP), which aims to support the professional development of student-athletes who are planning to pursue a career in athletics.
To be eligible for the award's consideration, student-athletes must: be enrolled at an AASP eligible institution, be interested in pursuing a career in athletics, have completed his or her sophomore year, have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, and be eligible for athletics competition.
For the accomplishment, Sidibe will receive travel awards to attend the 2022 Career in Sports Forum and the 2020 AASP Annual Conference.
Sidibe, who grew up in Dakar, Senegal, is an accounting major at Norfolk State. He has landed on the AD's honor roll multiple times the past two years.
On the court, Sidibe appeared in 12 games for the Spartans this season.
