NCCU TE Macklin Receives Rookie Minicamp Invite from Jets

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central senior tight end Isiah Macklin received an invitation to attend rookie minicamp from the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL).
 
Macklin (6-5, 215, Las Vegas, Nev.) earned All-MEAC Third Team recognition and was selected to play in the 2022 HBCU Legacy Classic after finishing fourth on the team with 16 receptions for 201 yards and a touchdown during the 2021 season. He collected a season-best three catches for 43 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown grab during a win at Morgan State on Oct. 23.
 
He transferred to NCCU from San Diego State University, where he tallied seven receptions for 98 yards in 28 games played with three starts during three seasons (2017-19).
 
Coming out of Green Valley High School in Las Vegas, Nev., Macklin was a three-star recruit by Scout at tight end, and a two-star recruit at wide receiver by Rivals and ESPN. He ranked as the top tight end in the state of Nevada and the 10th best in the West, and was considered the 15th-best overall recruit out of Nevada by 247sports. He also played basketball at Green Valley High School.
