NORFOLK, Va., April 2, 2022 – Saturday’s MEAC softball action included doubleheader sweeps by Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina Central and Norfolk State.
 
Maryland Eastern Shore 15, South Carolina State 3 | Maryland Eastern Shore 7, South Carolina State 1
 
ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team used a strong offensive day to grab two wins on Saturday (April 2) versus the South Carolina State University Bulldogs. The Hawks won game one 15-3 in five innings and game two 7-1.
 
Eastern Shore's (11-19, 7-1 MEAC) two wins on Saturday gave the program their first double digit win season since 2017. The 2017 squad finished the season with 11 wins.

CARY, N.C. – Sophomore Hailey Batista drove in six runs on the day, including a go-ahead home run in the first game, to lead the North Carolina Central University softball team to a 10-6 and 12-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) doubleheader sweep of Delaware State University on Saturday at Thomas Brooks Park.
 
Freshman Jaden Davis had a team-high totals of five hits, five runs and two stolen bases for the Eagles. Classmate Ashanti Eubanks tallied three hits and scored four times while also earning the pitching win in both ends of the twin bill. Senior Madison Mifsud and junior Maegan Garrison joined Eubanks and Batista with three hits apiece. Mifsud and sophomore Jaylah Barr both supplied four RBI. Barr reached base six times with two hits and four walks
 

Norfolk State 7, Coppin State 3 | Norfolk State 7, Coppin State 0
 
BALTIMORE, Md. – On its second four-game winning streak of the season, the Norfolk State softball team earned a pair of wins over Coppin State in a MEAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Baltimore. In the wins, Gabby Vaughan picked up her 100th career hit and finished the day three hits and currently has 101 in her four seasons.
 
The Spartans never trailed in either game, taking game one 7-3 before shutting out the Eagles in the second, 7-0. Over the course of the two contests, NSU collected 21 hits and 14 runs.
  
 
Morgan State 4, Howard 3 | Howard 4, Morgan State 2
 
BALTIMORE, Md. – Morgan State and Howard split a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday with the Lady Bears winning game one 4-3 and the Bison taking the nightcap 4-2. Morgan State is now 15-12 overall and 6-2 in MEAC play. Howard is 13-19 and 4-3.
