MEAC Title IX 50th Anniversary Page

A native of Pitesti, Romania, Maria Craciun made her mark in helping further establish South Carolina State women’s tennis as a MEAC dynasty. A four-time First Team All-MEAC performer (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013), the 2013 MEAC Player of the Year and the 2010 MEAC Women’s Tennis Championship Outstanding Performer, Craciun was on four MEAC championship teams during her time in Orangeburg.

The Bulldogs did not lose a conference match in her four seasons.

Craciun also became the first player in South Carolina State and MEAC history to receive a berth to the NCAA Individual Singles Championship, doing so in 2012. She faced Stanford’s Mallory Burdette in the first round.
