Howard Extends Lead After Day 2 of 2022 MEAC Men’s Golf Championship

SILVER SPRING, Md., April 19, 2022 – Howard University extended its lead in the 2022 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Golf Championship on Tuesday at the Argyle Country Club, putting the Bison in position to possibly win their first conference title in the sport.
 
After Tuesday’s second round, played in cold and blustery conditions, Howard holds a 13-shot lead, sitting at +55 (310-313=623). Maryland Eastern Shore (+68, 315-321=636) sits in second, while North Carolina Central is third at +72 (325-315=640).
 
The Bison’s Gregory Odom, Jr. holds the individual lead after shooting a 6-over 77 and sits at +11 (76-77=153). Having recorded three birdies on the front nine on Tuesday, he is up one shot over Maryland Eastern Shore’s Thabang Miophuli, who is second at +12 (77-77=154).
 
There is a three-way tie for third at +13 (155) between North Carolina Central’s Daniel Barbare (80-75) and Howard’s Everett Whiten, Jr. (80-75) and Joshua Siplin (77-78).
 
Barbare and Whiten both had the round of the day with a 4-over 75.
 
UMES’ Logan Kiley is sixth at +14 (78-78=156), while North Carolina Central’s Travis Jackson is seventh at +17 (76-83=159). Tyler McDonald of UMES (+18, 76-84=160), Edrine Okong of Howard (+19, 77-84=161) and NCCU’s Jesper Gullstrand (+21, 84-79=163) round out the individual top 10.
