NORFOLK, Va. –
For the second day in a row, a Norfolk State softball record has been broken. With the Spartans' 9-1 win over North Carolina Central, NSU is now on an 11-game winning streak, the longest in the team's Division I era.
The win also marked another special milestone as the victory was the 100
th career win for head coach James Inzana.
Howard 10, South Carolina State 5
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Howard University softball team rallied to take down South Carolina State, 10-5, and completed the three-game season sweep over the Lady Bulldogs at Washington Nationals Youth Academy.
With the victory, Howard earned its 20
th win of the season, its highest win total since 2011, while extending its program-record win streak to eight games.
Senior Kalita Dennis led the charge, going 3-of-4 with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored in the win.
Morgan State 5, Maryland Eastern Shore 3
BALTIMORE, Md. - The Morgan State softball team completed a three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series sweep of visiting Maryland Eastern Shore with a 5-3 victory on Saturday afternoon in front of a record overflow crowd at Lois T. Murray Field.
The victory extended Morgan's (21-13, 12-3 MEAC) winning streak to six straight, while the Hawks (14-27, 10-5 MEAC) dropped their fifth straight.
Coppin State 6, Delaware State 5
BALTIMORE, Md. – Avianna Peterson hit a walk-off single through the left side of the infield to cap a furious seventh inning rally, lifting Coppin State's softball team to a key 6-5 MEAC victory over Delaware State on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Eagles took two of the three games against the Hornets.
