DOVER, Del., April 13, 2022 -- On Wednesday, sophomore pitcher Anaya Hunte both did it again and finally did it. The Burlington, N.J. native broke the school's strikeout record for the second time in less than a month – totaling 16 strikeouts, while also recording her first-ever no-hitter and the school's first-ever perfect game in a 6-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) victory over Delaware State at DSU Softball Field.
 
The win completed a three-game season sweep of the Hornets, as Morgan State improved to 18-13 overall and 9-3 in the MEAC, while Delaware State fell to 3-24, 2-10 MEAC. Hunte improved to 9-3 on the season with the complete game victory and now has a team-leading 84 strikeouts.
 
The career-high 16 strikeouts surpassed the previous school mark of 13 in a game, which Hunte set at home against Coppin State on March 19.
 
Hunte, who this season has recorded a couple one-hitter performances and flirted with a no-hitter in the Coppin State outing, faced 21 Hornet batters on Wednesday, retiring all 21 of them to finally collect her first-ever no-hitter, while earning hers and the school's first-ever perfect game. Hunte began the game striking out the first 10 Delaware State batters she faced. She would retire the side by way of strikeout four times, including each of the first three innings.
 
Morgan State was led by Mia Ewell, who tallied a game-high three hits on four at bats with a game-high 2RBIs. Madison Bolyea was 1-for-2 with a run and also had a game-high 2RBIs, while Danielle Jason recorded a hit, a walk and scored a game-high two runs.
 
The Lady Bears broke a scoreless game in the third inning when Mia Ewell doubled to center field to score Asia Thomas for a 1-0 lead.
 
Two innings later, Mia Ewell singled through the right side to score Jason to put the guests ahead, 2-0 in the fifth.
 
Morgan State would add four more runs in the very next inning for the game's final 6-0 score. Bolyea drove in two runs with her single through the right side to score Aliya Ewell and Ky'Anah Lake to give the Lady Bears a 4-0 advantage. Bolyea later scored the fifth run of the game on a throwing error by Delaware State's catcher. A single up the middle by Katariina Delph coupled by an error on the third baseman, allowed Jason to score the game's sixth and final run of the evening.
