PRINCETON, N.J. (April 10, 2022) – Howard University men's golf team finished the weekend strong at the Princeton Invitational, hosted by the Tigers, tying for 10
th overall. The three-round, two-day event took place at the Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J.
In the final round, HU shot 8-over par (296) and moved up two slots after sitting in 12
th place yesterday.
Seniors
Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) and
Gregory Odom (Memphis, Tenn.) led the way with top 10 finishes.
On Sunday, Whiten shot 2-under par (70) and finished the tournament 1-under (212), which tied him for fifth overall. For Odom, the Memphis native shot even par (213) throughout the event and tied for eighth.
Sophomore
Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.) recorded a 227 (+14) in three rounds, followed by junior
Edrine Okong (Lugazi, Uganda) and rookie
Justin Green (Chesapeake, Va.) registering 230 (+17) and 237 (+24), respectively.
Princeton finished first and second, respectively, shooting 845 (-7) and 846 (-6).
Individually, the Tigers' William Huang cruised to victory after shooting 10-under (203) in 54 holes. Temple's Conor McGrath and Dawson Anders placed second (209, -4) and third (210, -3), respectively.
On April 18-20, Howard hosts the 2022 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships. The three-day event takes place at the Argyle Country Club in Spring Springs, Md.
