NORFOLK, Va., April 11, 2022–Maryland Eastern Shore redshirt freshman Tatum Kresley has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, it was announced on Monday. Meanwhile, Norfolk State freshman Kenna Higa is the Rookie of the Week and Morgan State sophomore Anaya Hunte is the Pitcher of the Week.
Kresley (OF/P, r-Fr., Alburtis. Pa.) hit .667 (12-for-18) with a double, five runs scored, three walks and two RBIs in five games for the Hawks this past week. She was also 3-for-4 in stolen bases with a .714 on-base percentage. In the second game of the doubleheader against Coppin State, Kresley set a new school record when she recorded her 59th hit of the season, erasing the previous record which had stood since 1996. Kresley also picked up the win in that contest, tossing a complete game while allowing five runs (three earned) and striking out two batters.
Higa (3B, Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii) went 5-for-8 (.625) with four doubles, five runs scored and seven RBIs in the series sweep at South Carolina State. She was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases and recorded a 1.125 slugging percentage. She currently leads the conference in slugging percentage (.663) and is second in RBIs (29) and doubles (12).
Hunte (P, So., Burlington, N.C.) went 1-0 for the week with an ERA of 0.00 in a 9-0 shutout victory over Delaware State. In that game, she only allowed one hit and walked one batter while striking out 10 in going the distance.

Vanessa Carrizosa (Coppin State) went 5-for-11 with six RBIs, five runs and a double in the series against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Jaslyn Sanchez (Coppin State) went 3-for-9 with six runs scored and a double in the Maryland Eastern Shore series.
Sydney Hixenbaugh (Howard) picked up two wins after pitching 6.2 innings in relief without allowing an earned run.
Alyssa Vasquez (Howard) batted .545 with five RBIs, three runs scored, two walks, a double and home run in the three-game series sweep of North Carolina Central.
Julia Garcia (Maryland Eastern Shore) hit .381 for the week with a home run, three doubles, four runs scored and five RBIs.
Mia Ewell (Morgan State) batted .667 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs in the doubleheader sweep of Delaware State.
Joana Vallejo (Norfolk State) tossed a complete game with a season-high 10 strikeouts in a win over South Carolina State.
Jaden Davis (North Carolina Central) hit .429 with three RBIs, three runs scored and a home run in four games for the Eagles.
