BALTIMORE, Md. – Isaiah Burke scored a team-leading 14 points as the Morgan State men’s basketball team defeated Coppin State 63-59 on Thursday night at the Physical Education Complex.
 
Nendah Tarke led four Coppin State players in double-figure scoring with 18 points and added 11 rebounds. Justin Steers finished with 15 points, while Mike Hood and Alex Rojas had 10 points apiece.
 
Morgan State earned the No. 4 seed in next week’s MEAC Tournament and will take on No. 5 South Carolina State at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Seventh-seeded Coppin State will play No. 2 Howard at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

NORFOLK, Va. – Senior Joe Bryant Jr. scored 27 points on his senior night to lead the Norfolk State men's basketball team to an 83-61 win over Howard on Thursday evening inside Echols Hall. The Spartans had already secured the MEAC regular-season title and top seed in next week's MEAC Tournament, but the win was over the #2 seed Bison. The game was also part of the Breast Cancer Awareness doubleheader with the Spartan women's basketball team.
 
Prior to the start of the game, NSU recognized its three seniors and what they have done for the program. In addition to Bryant, both Kris Bankston and Jalen Hawkins were presented with a plaque and honored at mid-court before starting lineups were announced.
 
All three seniors reach double figures as Bankston scored 15 and Hawkins added 13 to go along with Bryant's 27. Ings gave the Spartans a fourth player in with double-digit points as he scored 11 in the game. Chambers had the game-high seven rebounds along with three blocks on the evening.
 
The Spartans will play on the first evening of the MEAC Tournament as the #1 seed when they take on the #8 seed Delaware State on Wednesday, March 9 at 6 p.m. at Scope Arena in Norfolk. NSU won twice over the Hornets during the regular season with an 80-51 win on the road and a 69-66 win at home. The winner will then play the winner of the matchup between #4 seed Morgan State and #5 seed South Carolina State on Friday March 11 at 6 p.m.
 
Maryland Eastern Shore 63, Delaware State 59
 
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — As the regular season came to a close on Thursday night (March 3), the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team was able to dig deep and outlast their Route 13 rival, the Delaware State University Hornets, for a 63-59 win on senior night.
 
Da’Shawn Phillip scored 16 points to lead the squad in scoring. Dom London scored all 14 of his points in the second half. Nathaniel Pollard, Jr. pulled down seven rebounds to lead the team on the boards.
 
The Hawks will now enter the MEAC Tournament as the number six seed. They will face number three seed, North Carolina Central, in the quarterfinals next Thursday (March 10) at 8 p.m. at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.
 
North Carolina Central 67, South Carolina State 62
 
DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men's basketball program gave a fitting sendoff to its two seniors, as the Eagles picked up a 67-62 victory over South Carolina State on Thursday, March 3 inside McDougald-McLendon Arena.
 
Prior to the game, NCCU (15-14, 8-5 MEAC) recognized both Nicolas Fennell and Randy Miller Jr. as they played their final game at home. Combined, the two players accounted for 161 games played, 114 games started, and 1,297 points scored.

Wright scored all of his game-high 24 points in the second half, and knocked down a total of eight field goals. Eric Boone recorded his first double-double of the year with a season-best 12 rebounds with 12 points, and Kris Monroe came close to a double-double of his own with 10 points and eight boards. Cameron Butler entered the starting lineup for the first time since Dec. 9 and collected nine points with five caroms.
 
Madlock finished with a team-high 23 points for SCSU with four treys, followed by Rahsaan Edwards with 13 points.
 
With the win, the Eagles will enter the MEAC Tournament as the third seed, and will face sixth-seeded Maryland Eastern Shore on Thursday, March 10.
