NORFOLK, Va., March 31, 2022 – In mid-week non-conference action, Norfolk State completed a doubleheader sweep of Virginia State while Maryland Easter Shore and Morgan State split doubleheaders with their respective opponents.

NORFOLK, Va. – The Virginia State softball team came to Norfolk winners of seven of its last eight games but walked away from the NSU Softball Field with a doubleheader loss to the Norfolk State softball team on Wednesday evening. The Spartans came from behind in game one and never trailed in game two for the pair of wins.
The games with the Trojans marked the first time in 25 years that the two teams met on the diamond since an 11-5 win by the Spartans on April 2, 1997. It was the last season NSU was a member of the CIAA (Division II) before transitioning to the MEAC and Division I.

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team grabbed its ninth win of the season on Wednesday (March 30) as the Hawks defeated the Hampton University Pirates 6-5 in game one of the doubleheader. The Pirates won game two 5-1.

TOWSON, Md. — The Morgan State softball team split a doubleheader with cross-town rival Towson on Wednesday, falling 3-2 in game one and the posting a 12-3 win in six innings in the nightcap.

CHARLESTON, S.C. – South Carolina State fell 7-1 and 12-0 in a softball doubleheader at Charleston Southern on Wednesday at the CSU Softball Complex. On the season, the Lady Bulldogs are now 3-22 overall.
Campbell 5, North Carolina Central 3
CARY, N.C. – Junior third baseman Maegan Garrison highlighted play for the North Carolina Central University softball team with two hits, including an RBI-triple, in a 5-3 home loss to Campbell University on Wednesday at Thomas Brooks Park.
Garrison also scored one of NCCU's two runs in the bottom of the seventh as the Eagles tried to overcome a four-run deficit in their last inning, but with the potential game-tying runners on base and the potential game-winning run at bat the Camels came up with their 11th strikeout of the contest to preserve the road win.
Campbell was outhit 7-4 in the midweek contest, but the Camels took advantage of six walks, two wild pitches, one hit batter and one NCCU error to prevail by two runs.
