NCCU Golfer Barbare Ties for Second Place at Aggie Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Central University junior golfer Daniel Barbare tied for runner-up on the individual leaderboard at the Aggie Invitational at Bryan Park on Monday and Tuesday, leading the Eagles to a tie for fourth place in the team standings.
 
A native of Raleigh, Barbare posted scores of 74, 74, and 78 to tie with Landon Johnstone of Texas Southern for second place at 10-over-par (226). The two were eight strokes behind event winner Mason Quagliata of Stetson.
 
NCCU senior Jesper Gullstrand (Vellinge, Sweden) carded his low score of the season on Tuesday with a final round of 73 (+1), vaulting him into a tie for 26th place with teammate Kendall Wallace (Blythewood, S.C.). Gullstrand shot 86 and 80 on Monday, while Wallace registered scores of 78, 80, and 81, each totaling 239 (+23).
 
During Monday's second round, Gullstrand recorded a hole-in-one on the 208-yard 12th hole, the first hole-in-one registered in the NCCU men's golf records book.
 
NCCU senior Travis Jackson (Laurinburg, N.C.) finished one shot back to tie for 28th place (81, 78, 81), while sophomore Trey Morse (New Orleans, La.) tied for 36th place (83, 81, 79).
 
As a team, NCCU tallied scores of 316, 312, and 311 (939) to tie Chicago State for fourth place in the 10-team event.
 
Up next, the Eagles travel to Silver Spring, Maryland, for the MEAC Men's Golf Championship at Argyle Country Club on April 19-20.
