NORFOLK, Va., March 20, 2022 – Sunday’s MEAC softball action included wins from Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State and South Carolina State.
Maryland Eastern Shore 5, Delaware State 4
SALISBURY, Md. — Coming into the weekend, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team had three wins. After getting a 5-4 walk-off win on Sunday (March 20) against the Delaware State University Hornets, the Hawks completed the series sweep and doubled their win total from two days ago.
Sunday's win was the first time the Hawks have swept the Hornets. It was also the first time the team has had a winning streak of four or more games since 2009. The 2009 season was also the last time the squad made the MEAC Tournament.
Morgan State 7, Coppin State 6
BALTIMORE, Md. — Morgan State completed a three-game series sweep of rival Coppin State on Sunday, with a 7-6 victory in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game at Lois T. Murray Field.
It was the Lady Bears' sixth straight MEAC series win dating back to the 2019 season. Morgan State, winners of four straight, improved to 10-8, 3-0 in the MEAC, while Coppin State fell to 0-19, 0-3 on the season.
South Carolina State 11, North Carolina Central 6
DURHAM, N.C. – South Carolina State posted an 11-6 win over North Carolina Central on Sunday to take the final game of the MEAC series. The Lady Bulldogs are now 2-18 overall and 1-2 in MEAC play, while the Eagles are 5-15, 2-1 on the year.
