2022 MEAC Bowling Championship Bracket


NORFOLK, Va., March 21, 2022 – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) will host the 2022 MEAC Bowling Championship Thursday through Sunday at Pinboy’s at the Beach [1577 Laskin Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23451].
 
All nine MEAC bowling programs will compete in the double-elimination tournament, with an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Bowling National Championship (April 15-16 in Columbus, Ohio) on the line. Competition will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, when No. 8 Norfolk State and No. 9 Howard square off, as well as No. 2 Delaware State and No. 7 Coppin State.
 
The winner of the Norfolk State-Howard match will advance to face No. 1 seed North Carolina A&T State on Friday at 9 a.m. The defending champion Aggies are the top seed by virtue of their 14-2 mark in league play this season. Friday morning will also see No. 3 Maryland Eastern Shore face No. 6 UAB, No. 4 Monmouth take on No. 5 Morgan State and an elimination match between the losing teams from Thursday’s matches.
 
Friday will also see matches at 1 p.m., with more elimination matches and the winners’ bracket semifinals, with Saturday’s action again kicking off at 9 a.m. One of the finalists will be determined after Saturday’s matches, with the other finalist emerging from an elimination match slated for 9 a.m. on Sunday.
 
Sunday’s championship final will begin at 2 p.m. ESPNU will re-air the match on Sunday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m.
 
The MEAC currently has five nationally-ranked programs, per the National Tenpin Coaches Association’s (NTCA) most recent Top 25 poll. North Carolina A&T State is ranked No. 5, followed by Delaware State (No. 14), Maryland Eastern Shore (No. 17), Morgan State (No. 19) and Monmouth (No. 24).
 
With the exception of Sunday’s championship match, the tournament will be held in Mega Match format (each match featuring a best-of-three format with five-person team play followed by Baker total pinfall and then Baker best-of-seven).
 
The championship final will be a best-of-seven Baker format.
 
The 2022 MEAC Bowling Championship will be open to the public; however, spectators will be required to wear a mask at all times, unless actively eating or drinking.
