URBANA, Md. (March 19, 2021) – After day one of the Carpetbagger Classic, the Howard University men's golf team sits in fourth place, shooting 10-over (298) and only seven strokes behind Rhode Island (URI) on the leaderboard. The two-day event takes place at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Md.
Senior
Gregory Odom (Memphis, Tenn.) leads the way for HU, sitting tied for fourth (72, E) after 18 holes of golf.
Fellow classmate
Everett Whiten Jr. (Chesapeake, Va.) and second-year Bison
Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.) are tied for 11
th in the standings, registering 2-over par (74).
URI's Brandon Gillis and Robert Morris' Josh Nagy are atop the individual leaderboard, recording 3-under (69) after day one. Farleigh Dickinson's Leon Heitz is two strokes behind at 71 (-1).
Rhode Island (291, +3) holds a three-stroke advantage over Robert Morris (294, +6), followed by Bryant (296, +8) and HU.
The event concludes Sunday (March 20) with a shotgun start time at 9:30 a.m.
