Howard 5, Norfolk State 2
CARY, N.C. -- Howard University women's tennis earned its first league win of the season, defeating Norfolk State 5-2 at the MEAC Round Up on Thursday at the Cary Tennis Center.
With the victory, Howard improved 3-3 (1-0 MEAC) on the season, while the Spartans fell to 1-6 (0-1 MEAC).
Howard took the early 1-0 match lead after winning all three doubles matches.
The young Bison took four out of six contests in singles play, led by rookies Jordan Grayson and Nadia Pegram. Both Bison won their matches in three sets.

CARY, N.C. -- Sophomore Jade Houston and Maria Picazo both won three of their four matches on the day for the North Carolina Central women's tennis team as the Eagles went 1-1 on day one of the MEAC Round-Up at the Cary Tennis Park on Thursday.
The Eagles were edged 4-3 in their league opener against Morgan State, but bounced back with a 7-0 sweep of Coppin State in the nightcap.

South Carolina State 4, Delaware State 3
CARY, N.C. -- Defending MEAC champion South Carolina State kicked off its portion of the MEAC Round-Up at the Cary Tennis Center on Thursday with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Delaware State.
The Hornets won two of the six singles matches and earned a point after taking two of the three doubles contests. The nearly five-hour match was essentially decided by South Carolina State's win at No. 5 singles on a third set tiebreaker.
