PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's golf team will compete in their second event of the spring season this week (March 14-15) in the Bash at the Beach.
The event will take place at the Surf Golf and Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The host school will be Appalachian State.
A total of 14 college teams will be competing in the tournament. Three of the participants are from HBCU institutions with North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T joining The Shore in that regard. The other schools in the field besides the host school are Delaware, Long Island, Marquette, Pennsylvania, Radford, Rhode Island, Rider, Troy, Saint Francis (Pa.) and UConn.
Round one will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start on Monday (March 14). All players will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The link to live scoring can be found on the Hawks website easternshorehawks.com on the men's golf schedule page.
Maryland Eastern Shore will have five golfers compete in the invitational. They are a trio of freshmen, Michael Davis, E Brooks and Logan Kiley, along with junior Thabang Moephuli and senior Mike Weller.
Moephuli, Davis and Brooks all made their debuts of the spring season back in February at the Alabama State Spring Kickoff. They shot +18, +28 and +30 respectively in that event with Moephuli finishing 20th overall. Kiley and Weller will compete in their first tournament of this calendar year in the upcoming event.
Eastern Shore will be back on the links in two weeks for the Aggie Invitational March 27-29 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
