Howard Men Pick Up First Win of Season
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The
Howard University men's tennis team grabbed its first win of the season, taking down Loyola (Md.) 5-1 at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's (WTEF) East Capitol Campus.
With the victory, Howard improved to 1-2 on the young season, while the Greyhounds suffered their first loss.
Howard swept doubles play, led by sophomore Justin Cadeau and freshman Daniel Dunac serving as the squad's No. 1 doubles team.

DURHAM, N.C. -- Freshman Lafi Joao notched a straight-set victory to account for the lone North Carolina Central women's tennis point in a 6-1 home loss to UNC Asheville on Friday.
Joao only lost two games in rolling to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles for the Eagles.
Joao (2-3) now has two wins in her rookie season to move into a three-way tie for the team lead in singles victories with fellow freshmen Kennedy Hill and Isabelle Exsted.

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Norfolk State men's tennis team dropped its season opener 4-1 at Loyola University Maryland on Sunday, with Federico Rebecchini notching a win at No. 1 singles.
Coming off of a stellar junior season that saw him receive first team All-MEAC honors, Rebecchini got off to an impressive start in his senior campaign. Playing the top singles spot for the tenth time in his career, Rebecchini cruised past Skyler Gates 6-1, 6-1 to earn the Spartans a point.

Newcomers Shine in Norfolk State's Heartbreaker vs. Loyola (Md.)
BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Norfolk State women's tennis team lost a heartbreaker on Sunday, falling 4-3 to Loyola (Md.). The teams split the six singles matches, making Loyola's doubles victory the decisive point.
Norfolk State's three newcomers all notched their first singles wins in a Spartan uniform on Sunday. After the Greyhounds swept the doubles slate, freshman Aleksandra Evdokimova evened the match at one by defeating LUM's Olivia Tracy 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 1 position.
Sophomore Amber Fuller, who transferred from West Virginia in the offseason, finally broke through on Sunday after dropping her first two contests of the season in tight, three-set finishes.

Delaware State Women Fall to George Mason
FAIRFAX, Va. -- George Mason won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles contests to defeat Delaware State 5-2 in a women's tennis match at the Burke Racquet and Swim Club.
Delaware State's Kit Yi Kaye Au-Yeung posted a win at No. 1 singles in a marathon contest, 7-6, 1-6, 10-8.
Klaudia Lisovska was also a winner for the Hornets at No. 3 singles when her opponent was unable to complete the match after Lisovska took the first set 5-0.
