Maryland Eastern Shore Goes 8-0 in MEAC Meet #2

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- 
The last time the University of Maryland Eastern Shore went through a MEAC event with an undefeated record was during the 2019-20 season, which was cut short by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Until Sunday, when the Hawks (55-39, 11-5 MEAC) topped National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) No. 18 Morgan State, Howard, UAB and No. 6 North Carolina A&T State to finish the second MEAC meet of the season with an 8-0 Traditional match record.

North Carolina A&T State Concludes Conference Play

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- 
It wasn't necessarily the day head coach Kim Terrell-Kearney and her North Carolina A&T State bowling squad anticipated, going 2-2 on Sunday in the second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet of the season.

The Aggies did, however, finish the season 14-2 in league play, securing the league's best record and the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming MEAC Bowling Championship Tournament next month.

Delaware State Competes in Second MEAC Meet

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- 
The Delaware State University bowling team wrapped up the MEAC #2 Tournament over the weekend.

The Hornets were led by the freshman duo of Kelsey Cummings and Emily Breidegam. Cummings finished first overall, while Breidegam finished eighth, securing the only top-10 finishes for the Hornets.

Morgan State Finishes Fourth in MEAC

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- 
The Morgan State Lady Bears finished the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular season composite standings in fourth-place after Sunday's round of traditional play.
 
On Sunday, Morgan State had a total pinfall of 3,771 for four games bowled. Morgan ended up going 1-3 on the day, which moved their conference match record to 9-7.

Cheyenne Washington led all scorers on Sunday with a 203.5 average for four games bowled. Ashanti Fernandes had the highest weekend average for the Lady Bears with a 208.5 for eight games.

Monmouth Competes in Second MEAC Meet of Season

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- 
The Monmouth University bowling team took part in its final MEAC meet of the regular season over the weekend. Facing off against all eight of their conference rivals in traditional games, the Hawks posted a 5-3 record over the two-day event, pushing their overall MEAC record on the season to 10-6.

Monmouth sits fourth in the conference behind No. 6 North Carolina A&T State (14-2), No. 14 Delaware State (11-5), and No. 16 Maryland Eastern Shore (11-5) with the conference tournament one month away.
 
Jamie Phelan was one of the top overall performers at the meet, finishing third overall out of 62 competitors.

UAB Places Fifth at MEAC Meet #2

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- 
The UAB bowling team placed fifth at the second MEAC competition of the season.
 
In the tournament, UAB finished with a final record of 4-4 with wins over Coppin State, Howard, Norfolk State and No. 18 Morgan State in traditional play.
 
Individually, Elise London paced the Blazers with a 185.8 average over the two-day tournament.

Brown Leads Coppin State at MEAC Meet #2

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- 
Coppin State’s bowling team finished seventh out of nine teams at MEAC Meet #2 held at Pinboy’s at the Beach.

The Eagles went 2-7 over the tournament with wins over Howard and Norfolk State.

Logan Brown led the way for Coppin individually, finishing seventh overall with an average of 194.44 with a high game of 224 against UAB. Over the weekend, Brown recorded four games above 200. Kaylah Castillo followed behind Brown with an average of 174.11, finishing 17th in the field.

Spartans Wrap Up MEAC Action with Win Over NCAT

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- 
The Norfolk State bowling team played in its own back yard over the weekend at the MEAC #2 Meet of the season. The event took place at Pinboy's at the Beach and followed a traditional style of action. The Spartans went 1-7 over the two-day event, including a win over the sixth-ranked team in the country.

On Sunday the Spartans fell to UAB (859-785) and Morgan State (1012-843), but finished the event with an 899-885 huge win over nationally-ranked #6 North Carolina A&T State.

Junior Megan Wheat bowled a 201 in the second round against UMES and ended Saturday with a 189.6 average. Classmate Chanel Staton also bowled strong on Saturday with a 181.4 average over the five rounds.
