Anzhane' Hutton and Brooklyn Fort-Davis each dropped 19 points as Howard defeated Coppin State 70-67 in Burr Gymnasium Monday evening to vault the Bison into first place in the MEAC standings.

The Bison are now 15-8 overall and 9-2 in MEAC play afer their fifth straight win.

Hutton also grabbed 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season, while Fort-Davis was one rebound shy of her own double-double. Iyanna Warren added 11 points, three assists and two steals, while Destiny Howell added 10 points.

Aliyah Lawson led Coppin State (14-10, 8-3 MEAC) with 20 points.

Maryland Eastern Shore wrapped up a successful road trip Monday evening with a 77-64 win over North Carolina Central in McDougald-McLendon Arena.

The Hawks improved to 9-14 overall, 5-6 in MEAC play on the season.

Ariana Seawell led UMES with 16 points and seven rebounds, going 7-for-9 from the floor. Amanda Carney added 14 points off the bench, hitting all 10 of her free throws, while Bairesha Gill-Miles chipped in 11 points.

Diamond Thomas had a game-high 23 points for the Eagles (4-17, 2-9 MEAC).

Morgan State 51, Norfolk State 49

BALTIMORE, Md. --
Ashia McCalla hit a three with 1:11 remaining Monday evening in Hill Field House, and Jayla Atmore added a layup in the closing seconds as Morgan State handed Norfolk State its second straight loss, 51-48.

Charlene Shepherd led the Bears (14-7, 8-3 MEAC) with 14 points, nine rebounds and five blocks. Atmore chipped in 13 points and seven boards.

Janay Turner led the Spartans (12-10, 8-3 MEAC) with 11 points.

South Carolina State 64, Delaware State 52

ORANGEBURG, S.C. --
Jayah Hicks led three Bulldogs in double figures with 16 points Monday evening as South Carolina State defended the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center with a 64-52 win over Delaware State.

S.C. State improved to 4-21 overall and 4-7 in MEAC play.

Hicks was 6-for-10 from the floor and grabbed eight rebounds. Victoria Jordan added 12 points and eight boards, while Trinity Klock had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

Breazia Robinson and Janasia Law eac had 14 points for the Hornets (0-20, 0-11 MEAC).
