MEAC Title IX 50th Anniversary: Brehanna Daniels

A former women’s basketball student-athlete at Norfolk State University (2014-16), Brehanna Daniels was the only female participant in NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity Combine in 2016.

In 2017, she became the first African-American woman to pit a car during a national stock car racing series, when she worked an Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) race in Nashville, Tenn. She followed that up in 2018 by becoming the first African-American woman to pit a NASCAR national series race, doing so for a Camping World Truck Series race in Dover, Del.

Daniels became the first African-American woman to pit a stock car during a NASCAR Cup Series race in July 2018 at Daytona International Speedway.
 
In 2019, Daniels pitted a car during the Daytona 500, NASCAR’s marquee event, and she also competed on the NBC competitive reality TV series Titan Games, hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

In 2020, Daniels received the Crew Member Award from the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Awards.
