NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 16, 2022—Morgan State graduate student Nihit Rawal was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Teammate Niles Rachal earned Rookie of the Week honors. North Carolina Central freshman Kennedy Hill was named Women’s Tennis Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.
 
Rawal (Gr., Chandigarh, India) picked up singles and doubles wins in the Bears’ victory this past Saturday over Lehigh. He won his No. 3 singles match against Matt Kleiman, 7-6, 6-3, and he paired with Mikeal Carpenter for a 7-6 doubles win over Zack Elliott and Marc Blekhman.
 
Rachal (Fr., Woodstock, Ga.) also won his singles and doubles matches against Lehigh; he defeated Gary Fishkin at the No. 4 singles spot, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, and he teamed with Rhajzon Rankins for a 6-4 doubles win over Kleiman and Jeremy Learner.
 
Hill (Fr., Tyrone, Ga.) went 2-0 in singles play this past week from the No. 2 position. She rallied for a 6-7, 6-1, 6-0 win over Ariana Chan of UNC Greensboro on Wednesday, before defeating UNC Wilmington’s Brinley Bell 6-4, 7-5 on Saturday.
