NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State softball team kicked off their 2022 season in style with a pair of walk-off wins over Hartford as part of the NSU-Hampton Classic being played on the NSU Softball Field on Friday afternoon. The Spartans scored five unanswered runs in the final three innings of game one while a hit batter with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth in game two gave NSU a pair of victories.
 
The wins marked the first time since the 2011 season that the Spartans opened the season 2-0.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The North Carolina Central University softball team opened up its 2022 season with a pair of games at the Spartan Classic on Friday. The Eagles suffered a narrow 3-2 loss to University of Massachusetts and a 7-0 setback to host USC Upstate.
 
Freshman pitcher/second baseman Jaden Davis was involved in a pitcher's duel in the first contest and then collected two hits in the second game to highlight play for the Eagles. Classmate Jaidyn Hamby accounted for both of NCCU's runs on the day with her first collegiate home run.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — In their first action in nearly two years, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team fell in their first two games of the season on day one of the Paladin Invitational hosted by the University of Furman. The Shore dropped their first game to Tarleton State 13-1 and their second game to Furman 13-10.
