NORFOLK, Va. -- Norfolk State conquered a momentous milestone with a 71-64 victory over NJIT at Echols Hall on Saturday, going 9-1 in its first 10 games of the season for the first time in the program's Division I history.
The Spartans, who extended their win streak to eight, put together a strong third quarter that boosted them to a desired end result. Camille Downs led the Spartans in scoring for the second consecutive contest, racking up 22 points, four steals, and two rebounds.
Deja Francis and Kierra Wheeler also hit a number of clutch shots in the second half, finishing with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Makoye Diawara led the Spartans on the glass, securing seven rebounds in 24 minutes of play.

North Carolina Central 76, Chicago State 66
CHICAGO, Ill. -- Junior Kimeira Burks and sophomore Morgan Callahan combined for 40 points, 14 rebounds and three assists in front of their hometown area crowd, leading North Carolina Central to a 76-66 win at Chicago State on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles shot a season-high 45.5 percent from the field to earn their first road win of the season. NCCU never trailed to improve to 3-6 on the season.
Burks matched her season-high point total with a game-high 21 points, including a career-high five made 3-pointers. Callahan followed closely behind with a career-high 19 points. Burks and Callahan led the maroon and gray with seven rebounds and three assists apiece.

Delaware State's offense was led by freshman guard Savannah Brooks, who scored a team-high 12 points.
