Spartans Crack Mid-Major Top 25 For First Time in Program History

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women's basketball team came in at No. 24 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll, the first time in program history it has made the ranking.
 
The recognition comes during a dominant start to the 2022-23 season for the Spartan women. Despite playing just two games at home thus far, Norfolk State has amassed a 7-1 record through eight games, its lone loss coming at Penn State by six points. The Spartans, who are on a six-game winning streak after a 54-42 win over Campbell this past Monday, have outscored opponents 567-386 in those eight contents.
 
With the Norfolk State men's basketball team ranked No. 21 in the CollegeInsider Men's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, Norfolk State is the first HBCU to have both the men's and women's teams in the polls at the same time.
