North Carolina A&T State Wins Track Kat Klash
HOUSTON, Texas -- After earning the No. 2 seed for bracket play, North Carolina A&T State won the Track Kat Klash over the weekend, hosted by Sam Houston State.
The Aggies went a combined 9-1 on Friday and Saturday, then in Sunday's bracket play, they defeated Sam Houston State and NTCA preseason No. 1 McKendree for the title.
Sophomore Chloe Newberry led the Aggies with an eighth-place finish. She totaled 1,077 pins for a five-game average of 215.40 and had three 200-plus bowling games on the day. MEAC Preseason Bowler of the Year Lauren Tomaszewski placed 11th with 1,056 total pins for a five-game 211.20 average.

Delaware State Finishes Third in Track Kat Klash
HOUSTON, Texas -- The Delaware State University women's bowling team earned it's third top-five team finish after taking third place at the Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State University.
The Hornets posted a 10-3 record, including a perfect 3-0 on Sunday to secure the top-five finish out of a 20-team tournament.
Individually, Delaware State was led by Emily Garl and Emily Breidegam, who recorded top-10 finishes this weekend and the Hornets had the most individual finishers in the top-10 out of all teams who represented the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).

Brown Wins Title, Coppin Finishes Second at Virginia Union
MIDLOTHIAN, Va. -- Logan Brown won her second individual title of the season to lead the Coppin State bowling team to a second-place finish at the Virginia Union Invitational this weekend at Bowl America.
The Eagles went 8-2 with 8,239 total pins to average 164.8 per game which included a perfect 5-0 mark in traditional matches on Saturday.
A junior from Waldorf, Md., Brown averaged a 192.40 in traditional matches, tallying 962 pins and had the high game of the tournament with a 220 against the host Panthers. Brown followed up with a 182 against Norfolk State, 197 against Howard, 178 against Virginia State an a 185 in an upset victory over nationally ranked Mount St. Mary's.
Brown averaged 19.24 pins per frame with an 88 percent overall fill. She put up 8.70 pins in her first ball and accumulated a 36% strike percentage and 81.3% spare conversion rate.

Hawks Finish Sixth at Track Kat Klash
HOUSTON, Texas -- Maryland Eastern Shore went 2-1 in Baker bracket play on the final day of the Track Kat Klash and finished the event in sixth place.
The team opened the day with a 4-0 loss to MEAC rival and National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) preseason No. 12 Delaware State.
UMES (19-5) rebounded from the setback to outlast No. 3 Nebraska 4-3 in the second match of the day.
Senior Elizabeth Ross averaged 225.80 over five Traditional games to finish in second place individually. Brooke Roberts averaged 209.20 over five and ended the day in 16th.

Monmouth Competes in Track Kat Klash
HOUSTON, Texas -- The Monmouth University women's bowling team earned a 13th-place finish at the 2022 Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State over the weekend.
Monmouth went 7-5 during the three-day event, including a 2-1 record in Championship play on Sunday, which included consecutive wins over Texas Southern and #20 Lewis. The Hawks claimed head-to-head wins over Southern, Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern during Friday's Baker competition and knocked off #17 Tulane and Alabama A&M in traditional matches.
Jenna Lehrer paced the Hawks individually with a 36th place finish as she averaged 191.8 over five traditional games.

UAB Finishes 16th in Track Kat Klash
HOUSTON, Texas -- The UAB Bowling team finished in 16th place at the Track Kat Klash this past weekend.
The Blazers took down three ranked opponents during the tournament: No. 3 Nebraska, No. 5 Sam Houston and No. 8 Louisiana Tech.
On Friday, UAB defeated Louisiana Tech 969-862 in Baker match two and ended the day with a huge win over host and Sam Houston State 1,035-901.
