Defensively, the Eagles held Howard to just 99 rushing yards and 179 passing yards. NCCU changed the momentum with interceptions by defensive lineman Christian Smith and defensive back Isaiah Lawson. Linebackers Jaki Brevard and Max U'Ren topped the team with six tackles apiece, while Tamaurice Smith and Colby Warrior each accounted for 1.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Up next, NCCU visits Norfolk State on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m., with the conference championship and a trip to the Celebration Bowl on the line.

Delaware State 27, South Carolina State 24 (OT)

ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Freshman Nathan Wilson nailed an 18-yard field goal on Delaware State's overtime possession to give the Hornets a 27-24 victory over defending MEAC and HBCU champ South Carolina State in a nationally-televised (ESPN3) nail-biter at Dawson Bulldog Stadium this afternoon.

The Hornets won at SC State for the first time since 2007 to improve to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the MEAC. The Bulldogs dropped their second straight game to fall to 3-6 and 1-2.

South Carolina State had the first overtime possession, but an attempted pass by Tyrece Nick on the first play was intercepted by Delaware State cornerback Charles Peeler, his first of the season.

After four consecutive running plays advanced the Hornets to the SC State one-yard line, head coach Rod Milstead turned to Wilson, who split the uprights after a perfect snap from Nester Conforti and hold by Matt Noll.

The win also improved the Hornets' hopes for their first winning season since 2012 (6-5). Delaware State also moved into sole possession of third place in the 2022 MEAC standings, trailing only North Carolina Central (3-1) and Howard (2-1).  The Hornets' MEAC losses this season are to NC Central and Howard.

The Hornets will close out the 2022 season with home games against MEAC rival Morgan State (Nov. 12) and Campbell University of the Big South Conference (Nov. 19). Each game is scheduled to kickoff at 2:02 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.

Stony Brook 24, Morgan State 22

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Bears were in search of their first road win in nearly four years. They came up just shy.

Angelo Guglielmello made a 37-yard game-ending field goal to give the Stony Brook Seawolves a 24-22 win over the visiting Morgan State Bears on a Saturday afternoon at LaValle Stadium.

The Seahawks (2-7, 1-5 CAA) made many mistakes during the early going, but made fewer in the second half en route to recording a win in the first-ever meeting between the teams.

Duce Taylor, starting in place of injured Carson Baker for the second straight game, threw a perfect pass to Andre Crawley who raced 57-yards for a touchdown. Taylor was sacked on the ensuing two-point attempt as the Bears held a 22-21 lead with 1:37 remaining.

Graham, the MEAC's leading rusher, ripped off a 44-yard touchdown run to pull the Bears to 21-16 with 12:47 remaining in the game. He finished with a game-high 177 yards on 23 carries.

Morgan (3-6, 1-2 MEAC) sat on top of a 10-7 lead at halftime.

The Bears will return to conference action when they head to Dover to face the Delaware State Hornets (5-4, 2-2 MEAC) on Saturday, November 12th.

North Carolina A&T 49, Norfolk State 21

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bhayshul Tuten scored four touchdowns, three rushing and one receiving, to lead North Carolina A&T past Norfolk State 49-24 on Saturday afternoon at Truist Stadium.

In the first meeting between the teams since N.C. A&T left the MEAC for the Big South Conference, the Aggies (6-3) scored the game's first 21 points and the final 14 to send the Spartans (1-8) to their third straight loss in their final non-conference game of the season.

Tuten scored on runs of 10 yards in the first quarter and 33 yards in the second. When Aggie linebacker Jacob Roberts scored on a 22-yard interception return at the 12:36 mark of the second quarter, the Aggies led 21-0.

But the Spartans battled back. Jaylan Adams scored on a 2-yard run to finish a 17-play, 75-yard drive to get the Spartans on the board with 4:22 left before halftime. Three minutes later, Otto Kuhns tossed a 41-yard TD pass to Collis Pride to bring NSU within 21-14 with 1:14 left to play in the second quarter.

Marquis Hall notched two tackles for loss, including a sack and a forced fumble, for the Spartan defense.

NSU returns home for its final game at Dick Price Stadium this season next week. The Spartans host North Carolina Central on Military Appreciation Day and Senior Day next Saturday. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
