NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 29, 2022 – Senior guard Sam Sessoms of Coppin State has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the league announced today. Junior forward Jordan Wood of Howard was announced as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Sessoms (G, 6-0, Sr., Philadelphia, Pa.) averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds across two games for the Eagles this past week. He scored a season-high 28 points against No. 23 Maryland, to go along with six rebounds, six assists and three steals, while going 11-for-20 from the floor. Against Towson, he dropped 19 points and dished out five assists.
Wood (F, 6-9, Jr., San Antonio, Texas) came down with 11 rebounds (all on the defensive end) and scored 16 points to record his first career double-double in a road win over Austin Peay. He also blocked a career-high three shots in that contest.

Steve Settle III (Howard) recorded a double-double at Austin Peay with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Ja’Darius Harris (North Carolina Central) scored 13 points, 11 of which came in the second half, and shot 6-for-9 against Gardner-Webb.
