North Carolina A&T State Notches Third Straight Tournament Win
MILLSBORO, Del. -- North Carolina A&T State has its third straight bowling tournament win, they have won 22 of their last 23 games, and they have at least one win against the top two teams in the country this season.
The Aggies won its third straight tournament, the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic, on Sunday, hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore at Millsboro Lanes, thanks to two wins over the second-ranked team in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, the Vanderbilt Commodores.
A&T improved to 40-6 and came from 242 pins behind the Commodores to secure what head coach Kim Terrell-Kearney described as a big win.

Coppin State Wins Lady Eagle Invitational
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Coppin State won its own CSU Lady Eagles Invitational, recording 8,101 total pins for a 172.4 average this past weekend at AMF Woodlawn Lanes. Kaylah Castillo won the individual title, averaging a 202.80 with 1,014 total pins which included a career-high 243 in a victory over Norfolk State.
The Eagles went 3-2 in traditional matches, defeating Wagner (913-788), Saint Anselm (858-633) and the Spartans (971-826) in three-straight matches. Coppin tied Bryant, 845-845, but fell in a tiebreaker before being edged by Bloomfield, 829-825.
CSU dropped a pair of Baker matches to Caldwell, 909-859, and Howard, 827-826, and entered bracket play as the top seed. Knocking out Kutztown, 4-1, the Eagles defeated Bloomfield, 4-3 in the Championship Match.

UAB Places Third at ISTAP Hornet Classic
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB bowling team finished third (10-3) at the ISTAP Hornet Classic this past weekend in Montgomery, Ala. The Blazers finished the 2022 portion of their season on a high note, with several bowlers recording best individual stats and two making the All-Tournament Team.
All five bowlers finished in the Top 15 for the weekend, including Kacey Marshal (third) and Madelynn Oliva (fifth), who both finished Top 5.

Maryland Eastern Shore Finishes Eighth in Hawk Invite
MILLSBORO, Del. -- Maryland Eastern Shore went 1-2 in bracket play during the final day of competition at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic at Millsboro Lanes and finished the event in eighth place.
UMES dropped the opening best-of-seven Baker match of the day to No. 13 Duquesne 4-0. The next match saw the Hawks pull out a 4-2 win against No. 16 Sacred Heart, but they faltered again in a 4-1 loss to No. 5 Sam Houston State.
The Hawks (31-14, 6-2 MEAC) had high hopes of making moves heading into Day 2 of the event, but a tough time in the middle matches left them as the No. 8 seed heading into bracket play. The best finish they could have come away with was fifth, but they had to settle for salvaging eighth.

Monmouth Wraps Up Fall Schedule at Hawk Invite
MILLSBORO, Del. -- The Monmouth University women's bowling team placed 16
th at the 2022 Hawk Classic Invitational this weekend hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Monmouth put together a 5-5 record through the first two days of the event, which included wins over St. Francis Brooklyn and #22 LIU in Baker format, as well as victories over Mercyhurst, #10 Fairleigh Dickinson, and #5 Sam Houston in Traditional format. The Hawks fell short in all three of their Championship matches on Sunday.

Norfolk State Takes Fifth at Lady Eagle Invitational
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Norfolk State finished the first semester positively at the CSU Lady Eagles Invitational, going 5-3 across two days of competition. The performance earned fifth place out of the 11-team field.
The Spartans went 1-3 in traditional matches on Saturday, defeating Howard 825-799 and dropping contests against Chestnut Hill (996-717), Coppin State (971-826), and Caldwell (945-777). NSU responded with resilience on Sunday, going 4-0 in its Baker matches with total pinfall wins over Kuztown (850-793) and Bryant (782-763), and best-of-seven victories against Caldwell and Howard.
Trinity Gray led the Spartans individually, averaging 168.0 pins per game, while Jazmin Esquibel (164.4), and LaShauna Burrus (158.4) followed closely behind. Gray rolled scores of 180 or higher on two occasions.

Morgan State Finishes 15th at Hawk Invite
MILLSBORO, Del. -- The Morgan State Lady Bears bowling team went 1-2 in Sunday's matches and finished in 14
th place at the UMES Hawk Classic, hosted by fellow MEAC foe Maryland Eastern Shore.
Morgan State started the day in 14
th place and they finished the day in that position after three rounds of Best 4-of-7 Baker matches.
