BALTIMORE, Md., Nov. 18, 2022 -- The Morgan State women's basketball team extended its home winning streak to 11 games, following its 68-46 victory over Saint Peter's on Friday evening at Hill Field House.
The win was the Lady Bears' third straight over the Peacocks, who now lead the all-time series over Morgan State, 11-4.
Morgan State improved to 5-0 with the win, which was the Lady Bears' 31
st home victory in their last 34 contests on their home floor, dating back to the 2018-19 campaign. Saint Peter's fell to 0-3 on the season.
Ja'Niah Henson scored a game-high 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead three Lady Bears in double figures scoring. Charlene Shepherd scored 12 points and had a game-high nine rebounds and a game-high five assists, while Sunshine McCrae came off the bench to score 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
The Lady Bears scored 40 points off 29 Saint Peter's turnovers. Shepherd recorded a game-high five steals and Henson added four, as Morgan State tallied 15 steals in the game.
For the second game in a row and the fourth time this season, the Lady Bears held its opponent under 10 points in the final period. Morgan State, which led 30-25 at the intermission, carried a 42-39 advantage into the fourth quarter. The Lady Bears would outscore the Peacocks, 26-7 in the final period.
Morgan State took control of the game by scoring the first 10 points to start the fourth and used a 23-4 run to take a 65-43 lead, following two free throws by Shepherd with 1:35 left in the game.
The Peacocks were led by Erin Harris, who scored 11 points on 3-for-4 shooting and had team highs in assists (4) and steals (2). Jada Williams came off the bench to score 10 points on 3-for-4 shooting, as Saint Peter's finished the game shooting 50 percent (15-of-30) from the floor.
The Lady Bears outrebounded the guests, 38-25.
