Coppin State's Jewel Watkins went off for a career-high 24 points to lead the Navy & Gold to a 78-49 win at Winthrop on Sunday afternoon at Winthrop Coliseum.

The victory was the first of first-year head coach Jermaine Woods' career.

Watkins' career game started off strong, and she continued her hot shooting throughout, making 9 of 15 from the floor with six 3-pointers. She also pulled down eight rebounds while dishing out four assists.

Norfolk State 77, College of Charleston 47

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- 
Norfolk State outscored College of Charleston 42-17 in the second half of an impressive 77-47 road victory on Sunday.
 
Kierra Wheeler led the way for the Spartans with a 14-point, 15-rebound double-double, racking up ten boards on the offensive end. Deja Francis (11) and Camille Downs (10) also scored in double figures, while Francis and Niya Fields both dished out five assists.

The Spartans shot 17-for-30 (56.7 percent) in the second half, going 4-for-6 (66.7 percent) on 3-point attempts. Meanwhile, the team held Charleston to 6-for-31 shooting from the field (19.4 percent) in those final two quarters.
